Carl Lucas was a getaway driver who worked for Markus Kane. After the bank robbery, he was captured and sent to Terminal Island Penitentiary on Terminal Island, where he participated in the Death Match. In the Death Match, two dangerous convicts are chosen and then forced to fight to the death or submission. The prisoners are given access to weapons or defense items to use during the fight by stepping on a marked plate in the arena. After the decline of Death Match, the event was transformed into Death Race.
